Museums and art itineraries with an exhibition presenting a significant number of polyptychs painted after 1983

For the programme of in-depth analysis of 20^th century Italian Art, the Ardengo Soffici Museum is organising a documentary exhibition, curated by Luigi Cavallo, with 20 paintings by the maestro from Poggio a Caiano and as many by Mario Sironi.

San Gimignano’s civic art gallery recently acquired a bequest of 20^th century Italian works of art from the late Florentine collector Gianfrancesco Pacchiani. This bequest – the result of the collector’s friendship with Superintendent Borghini, born in San Gimignano – has enriched the gallery with famous names.

The city of Florence and its province preserve numerous and important 20^th century collections that are not open to the public, perhaps preserved in institutes reserved to study and research (such as archives or foundations) or in private collections.

The GAMC, Galleria Comunale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea “Lorenzo Viani”, holds an important heritage consisting of over three thousand works of art, mainly thanks to private donations and acquisitions made by the Municipality of Viareggio.

The installation by Studio Azzurro, Where are all these people going, consists of three automated glass doors welcoming viewers by opening wide in a friendly manner, as if not opposing their presence.
Hasan Elahi’s work addresses the subjects of migration, borders – both physical and cultural – the use of new technologies and their role in our daily lives.

The Ragghianti Foundation is sponsoring an exhibition focused on relations between a culture of project management and the productive world in Tuscany from the fifties to the present.

This exhibition is a journey of discovery through the portrayal of landscapes in areas surrounding Lucca in the 20^th century. It is a story in painted images of the urban areas in Lucca and La Piana, the marina, historical Versilia and the lands of Puccini, the mountains, the Garfagnana and the Serchio River’s upper valley.

These are two exhibitions held in two prestigious locations, both aimed at evoking the city’s strong vocation for contemporary art. The exhibitions are ‘Art at the Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum’ hosted at the Villa Mimbelli Granaries and ‘Design’ at the Livorno Foundation exhibition centres.
